Hi8 (High-Band Video8) is an improved analog video format released in the early 1990s that enhanced Video8's capabilities. It offered better quality with 400 lines of resolution compared to Video8's 270 lines, and supported digital audio tracks. Hi8 used the same 8mm cassettes as Video8 but with enhanced metal particle or metal evaporated tape.
