Digitizing preserves your memories by creating digital files of them that work on today’s cellphones, tables, computers, and other modern technology. But how do you want to receive those digital files from us here at Capture?
We get this question a lot. Let us talk you through the options and help figure out what’s right for you.
Digital files
After we digitize memories for you, we can put the digital files in our ultra-secure MemoryCloud. From MemoryCloud, you can download your memories to your computer or other device(s), order copies of your memories on DVD or USB, and add your photos and videos to Google Photos or iPhoto or any other photo storage program. Please note: If you choose our Time Capsule option at ordering, you will need to choose this option. It comes standard if you select a Custom Order.
Important: Your MemoryCloud access is temporary. You need to download your memories or add them to Google Photos prior to the “AVAILABLE UNTIL” date shown in MemoryCloud. After that date, you will no longer be able to access your memories in MemoryCloud.
We strongly recommend that you move your digital files from our MemoryCloud to another cloud-based photo storage program like Google Photos or iCloud. That way, you’ll always have one copy of them in a single place that’s outside of your home or physical location. And you’ll finally be able to bring together your old and new memories and enjoy them easily from anywhere.
Aside from your digital files in MemoryCloud, you can choose to receive your digital memory files on:
1. USB flash drive
Ideal for: easy transport and sharing, simple backup
A USB flash drive is a great way to enjoy and transport your digital copies. You can use it to view your memories on any device with a USB port—TV, laptop, game console, etc. Portability is also a big plus. USB drives are easy for you to pass on to other friends and family members and/or take to a photo kiosk to create photo gifts.
In addition, a USB flash drive is the perfect backup to complement storing your digital memory files on your computer or in a photo program like Google Photos or iPhoto.
2. DVD
Have family members or friends who don’t have a computer? Putting your photo of video memories on a DVD lets them view their memories on a TV using a DVD player. It’s perfect for watch parties to let everyone get in on the fun.
Because they are so easy to use and enjoy, memory DVDs are an ideal gift. You can personalize each DVD with a title, theme, and music. Each DVD stores approximately 500 images, depending on image quality. You can also use a DVD as your second backup method if you have your digital files in a photo tool like iPhoto or Google Photo or on your computer.
Relax. Back up. Repeat.
Digitizing lets you back up your memories just as you do your other important files—on the cloud, on drives, in multiple places—for peace of mind. It’s a huge relief to know that your precious, often irreplaceable, memories are safe and no longer in danger of degrading over time.
To preserve your memories, we recommend that you have a physical copy on a device, DVD, USB or other external hard drive, AND a cloud backup. Having your files in two places helps protect against loss, whether that is from computer issues or physical problems like fire, flood
Having your files backed up by the cloud gives you access from anywhere and built-in digital redundancy—without any work on your end once you’ve added your files to the program.
